RIGGINS – The search continues for two Coeur d’Alene canoeists reported missing since Sunday during a trip in the French Creek area of Salmon River Road.

As of press time, the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO), Idaho County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue, and Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IFG) were involved in the search.

Patrick Lusk, 27, and Jason Gritten, 35, were reported missing by family members on Sunday, May 17, 7:15 p.m., according to an ICSO release. The pair reportedly planned to canoe across the river and hike to the Burgdorf Hot Springs; however, they failed to return home when planned.

ICSO Corporal Jonny Wilson searched the immediate area by spotlight and was unable to locate the men. On Monday, May 18, Corporal Justin Scuka and IFG officers Roy Kinner and Dennis Brandt unsuccessfully searched the river for several hours by boat.
