Thursday, May 24 - The National Weather Service Missoula Office is forecasting possible strong to severe storms for North Central Idaho, starting late Friday afternoon, May 25, through that evening. Storm events are forecast to continue through Sunday, May 27.

This evening (Thursday, May 24), NWS expects storms to continue with heavy downpours, occasional lightning and small hail. This will impact North Central Idaho and western Montana.

For Friday, Idaho County is within the zone to see heavy downpours with localized flooding, winds of 40 to 50 MPH, small hail and frequent lightning.

For Idaho County after 5 p.m. Friday, the region has high potential for strong to severe thunderstorms.

Memorial Day weekend outlook

Outlook for Saturday, May 26: outflow winds near thunderstorms, rain showers with afternoon storms, and rivers remaining high. Temperatures 60s to 70s.

Outlook for Sunday, May 27: outflow winds near thunderstorms, morning showers and widespread afternoon storms, rivers remaining high. Temperatures 60s to 70s.

Outlook for Monday, May 28: Dissipating showers, rivers to remain high. Temperatures 70s to 80s.
