LEWISTON – A crowd turned out for the Jan. 31 meet-and-greet dinner Idaho Fish and Game put on to introduce new director Ed Schriever to Clearwater Region sportsmen and women.

“I thought it went very well,” Schriever told the Free Press Friday. “I spent 1.5 hours answering a wide variety of questions. Access, steelhead and big game management – mostly deer, elk, moose and wolves – were on people’s minds. I received numerous comments related to people being pleased that their director is known to them, familiar with the geography and natural resource issues that are important to them.”

IDFG has scheduled a series of public meetings on hunting and fishing topics this month, including a 5:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 13 at Grangeville Senior Center to hear hunters’ preferences for rules and seasons for the upcoming big game hunts. Also coming up is a meeting on chinook fisheries at 5:30 p.m. MT (4:30 p.m. PT) Feb. 12 at the Salmon Rapids Lodge in Riggins.
