Transfer Fire cause under investigation

As of Aug. 19, the Transfer Fire, near Mt. Idaho Grade in the Grangeville area, was within an area measured at 50 acres, not spreading and not showing active flame. Crews were set to stay on the line into the night, and three manned fire engines were set to stay out overnight, Idaho Department of Lands' Fire Information Facebook pages noted in a news late yesterday afternoon. Homes that were threatened yesterday continue to be safe today. IDL will notify the public of any changes that potentially put homes at risk.

The fire sprang up Aug. 17 after a storm that brought lightning to Idaho County, but the cause of the Transfer Fire has not yet been established. It is under investigation, IDL told the Free Press Aug. 19.
