Who’s new on your city council?

Following Tuesday’s Nov. 5 elections, Grangeville voters chose incumbents Beryl Grant and Wes Lester, and newcomer Scott Winkler for three four-year-term seats on the city council. Of the four candidates running, Grant received 250, Lester 228, Winkler, 239, and Tony Ellis, 135. Running unopposed, Mayor Bruce Walker received 217 votes.

In the three-way White Bird city council race for two four-year seats, incumbent Paul Sand and newcomer Barbara Lowe were elected, receiving 14 and 12 votes, respectively, followed by Darlene Wadsworth with 11. Incumbent Janis Ann Owen-Comrie ran unopposed for the two-year-term seat, receiving 18.

Voters unanimously chose 15 to 0 to approve authorization of annexing the Joseph Plains and Boles areas (between the Salmon and Snake rivers) into the Doumecq Highway District. This yes vote will allow for transfer of jurisdictional responsibility for roadways in these areas to the district for perpetual maintenance.
