The USDA National Resource Conservation Service’s March 1 report on the water year shows the Clearwater basin holding 94 percent of the 1981-2010 average amount of water, despite recent snowfall that pushed the agency’s snow-water report into above average ranges across much of Idaho. The Clearwater basin SNOTEL figure ticked up to 102 percent of the long-term average, from the 87 percent figure reported Feb. 1. In contrast to last month, the March 1 SNOTEL report shows most of Idaho with above-average snowpack.
