REXBURG — Local lawmakers spent part of a town hall Monday arguing in favor of making the state’s ballot initiative laws stricter, while also addressing issues including education funding, water rights and compensation for the wrongfully convicted.

I am not a Democrat, and I don’t excuse the transgressions of any previous Democratic president. But if anyone would try to convince me that this president and his administration believes in “traditional family values,” I would have to say, “Don’t make me laugh.”

State Republican candidates rallied the troops through the region as part of a 10-day bus tour throughout Idaho in leading up to the Nov. 6 election. More than 50 people attended last Thursday’s Oct. 18 event at the Super 8 in Grangeville that included short presentations by GOP candidates, with the common theme being to get out the vote to maintain Republican progress on issues and important values.
