A segment of local history will bid adieu to Grangeville this week., in cooperation with United Country Real Estate/Musick and Sons Auction and Real Estate Services, will sell Ted Billups’ tractor and memorabilia collection. The on-line auction of more than 30 collectible tractors, as well as hundreds of manuals, toys and other keepsakes, will end Thursday, Nov. 29, 3 p.m. MST. The final preview or inspection of items is today, Wednesday, Nov. 28, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Billups’ north Grangeville shops. “So far, we have 137 registered bidders from 23 states, three from Canada and one from Australia,” said auctioneer Kyle Musick on Monday.

A piece of Camas Prairie old iron is headed east to corn country. Last Friday, Oct. 27, the approximate four-ton 1917 Yuba Model 20-35 four-cylinder gas engine tractor was secured to a Bell Equipment flatbed truck pending shipment to an auction house in Davenport, Iowa. A sunny fall morning reflected across the tractor’s glossy green paint, still pristine from a restoration effort undertaken more than a decade ago by Ted Billups of Grangeville.

One person was transported for medical treatment following an Oct. 12 two-vehicle accident 14 miles south of Grangeville. Ismael C. Montes, 69, of Grangeville, was taken to Syringa Hospital.

Children at Cornerstone Christian Learning Center at the Grangeville Church of the Nazarene recently learned about farm tractors from local farmer Mike Hauger on “Thank a Farmer Day.” Hauger showed the kids the tractor parts and answered their questions about the machinery, crops and farming in general.
