Gospel Lighthouse Church of God in Stites will be host to “The Christmas Story: A Savior is Born,” Sunday, Dec. 16, 6 p.m. The play will be presented by the church youth (pictured here) and gospel team. Admission is free and all are encouraged to attend. The church is located at 406 Main Street.
Without question, the largest overall supporter of youth in Idaho County is the 4-H program. The basic purpose of the 4-H program is to focus on the personal growth of youth. The organization provides a number of opportunities in areas such as communications, leadership, career development, livestock, home improvement, and computer technology.
In 2017, for its debut issue, “It’s Your Business” focused on several family-owned businesses throughout Idaho County. Our communities would not be the same without them. This year, in this expanded section which gets its name from the weekly column I write for the Free Press, we wanted to focus on some of our county’s youth development programs.
Timing is everything. Just ask Mike Hoecherl. Mike and his wife, Timmie, are the new executive and operations director, respectively, at ALACCA Bible Camp in Harpster. The couple was living their lives to the fullest in Racine, Wisc. He was a youth pastor, she had a thriving photography business, and they both worked/volunteered in side ministries with Youth for Christ. Mike coached year-round as well. “One day at our house during a cookout, one of our graduated youth group members was asking what my ideal ministry job would look like,” Mike recalled.

It is despicable how these progressive senators and congressmen are using our youth to further their agenda to ban guns from law-abiding citizens.
