Baseball: Chase Adkison named league MVP

Chase Adkison, pictured sliding into second in a game earlier this season, was named the 2019 player of the year for the Central Idaho League.

It comes as no surprise Grangeville senior Chase Adkison has been named Central Idaho League player of the year. But with the CIL coaches recognizing a total of 10 players, here are nine other names to know – all first-team picks: Thomas Reynolds, Hunter Schoo and Michael Woods of Grangeville, Jose Barajas, Cody Isbelle and Brayden Turcott of Orofino, and Hayden Villa, Cade Truscott and Kaden Hammond of St. Maries.

Reynolds and Turcott were the only underclassmen recognized, and juniors Truscott and Barajas figure to be impact players next spring.

Adkison and the Bulldogs, meanwhile, are preparing to face Firth in the first round at the 2A state tournament at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, May 16, in Orofino.
