The Salmon River basketball boys were doubled up by Tri-Valley 51-25 on Jan. 8, but rebounded with wins over Cascade (61-31) and Horseshoe Bend (59-46) to stay in the hunt for a Long Pin Conference title.

SRHS got 27 points from Canyon Harper and 17 from Ethan Shepherd against Horseshoe Bend. Harper and Isaac Hofflander scored 17 apiece against Cascade, with Randy McClure adding 13. But without Harper in the lineup against Tri-Valley, SRHS had none score double-digits.

SRHS played Council Jan. 15, and this week is set to play Garden Valley Jan. 18 and Horseshoe Bend Jan. 19.

Prairie boys score two

Wins over Clearwater Valley (63-31) and Potlatch (52-46) kept the Prairie boys within striking distance of the Whitepine League lead, which Lapwai established with a 66-56 win over the Pirates before the winter break. Prairie has road games at Kamiah and Troy, then a home game against Lapwai Jan. 22.

Kamiah nets fourth ‘W’

The Kamiah boys got their fourth overall win of the season with a 52-37 triumph over Kendrick Jan. 11. KHS is set to host CV on Jan. 22.
