Salmon River boys basketball team headed to State

Randy McClure (15 points), Jimmy Tucker (13) and Isaac Hofflander (10) were the top scorers for Salmon River, which faced football rival Deary in a win-or-go-home game Saturday afternoon, Feb. 23, in Grangeville. On a day the teams combined for 40 fouls, the SRHS boys shot 16-for-27 from the foul line and won 56-38.

Salmon River outscored Deary 12-3 during the fourth quarter, chiefly by way of making nine free throws. Deary led after the first quarter and at halftime, but McClure erupted for 13 and the Savages scored 23 during the third quarter to take charge.

With the victory, Salmon River is on play Genesis Prep at 6:15 p.m. MT at Caldwell High School when their 1AD2 state tournament begins on Feb. 28.
