A 48-45 St. Maries win Tuesday night, Feb. 19, marked the first time the Lumberjacks had beaten Grangeville this season – and the loss complicated the Bulldog boys’ pursuit of a state berth. Unchanged is their need to beat St. Maries twice in order to advance.

Unexpectedly, given Grangeville’s regular season sweep of St. Maries, GHS will be first to face the prospect of elimination when the teams meet at 6 p.m. Thursday night in Troy. With a win, the Bulldogs would put St. Maries to the test in a winner-take-all game at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Troy.

To beat Grangeville in Round One, St. Maries leaned on 14 points from bruiser Dan Howard, who outmuscled the Bulldogs, according to the Lewiston Tribune.

For GHS, Trey Dreadfulwater was the top scorer with 23 points.
