GHS Cheer squad takes first in events at UI

The Grangeville High Cheer squad placed first in several 2A categories last Saturday, Jan. 19, at University of Idaho: Co-ed show routine, pom routine, sideline routine, co-ed five-man stunt, co-ed partner stunt and all-girl partner stunt.

“We took first in every event we entered,” coach Renita Lee told the Free Press.

The team also came within tiebreakers of winning the event’s overall grand champion trophy, Lee said. The overall trophy is awarded to the top-scoring school regardless of classification — and Moscow’s raw score proved decisive.

Next, the cheerleaders compete Feb. 2 at Lakeland High School in Rathdrum.
