Salmon River senior Chevelle Shepherd led the SRHS girls to an upset win over non-league Prairie last Saturday, Jan. 26.

She scored 28 and Lotus Harper scored 15 as the Savages kept Prairie’s top scorers in check.

India Peery scored 17 for PHS, while Madison Shears and Jordyn Higgins scored 10 apiece.

The game held no implications for either side’s district tournament seeding. Prairie is set as a No. 2 seed in the District II Class 1AD1 tournament that begins this week at LCSC. Salmon River is the No. 1 seed for the District III Class 1AD2 tournament that begins this week at Meadows Valley.

Salmon River’s opening night is Saturday, Feb. 2, at 6 p.m., against the Jan. 31 Horseshoe Bend-Cascade winner.

The District III title game is set for 6 p.m. Feb. 5 at Meadows.

Prairie’s tournament opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, against the winner of a Troy-Potlatch matchup to be played Wednesday. The District II title game will be Feb. 8 at LCSC.
