With a 65-38 win over Long Pin Conference foe Horseshoe Bend, the Salmon River girls are on to the title game at the 1AD2 District III tournament. They’ll play Tri-Valley at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5.

“We were glad to get that one behind us as we have some kids not feeling very well,” Savages head coach Paula Tucker said of beating Horseshoe Bend. “Chevelle Shepherd had a great game leading the team in points and assists. Other standouts were Emily Diaz rebounding and Jordyn Pottenger. Defensively, Alethea Chapman’s constant pressure made it a long night for the Mustangs point guard.”

Diaz had 16 points, and Pottenger scored 12.

Shepherd scored a team-high 22 points, the Lewiston Tribune reported Sunday.
