The Grangeville, Prairie, Lapwai, Salmon River and Nezperce girls basketball teams have earned trips to the state tournaments later this month with wins in the region's high school girls basketball District tournaments, which continue this week.

Grangeville defeated St. Maries twice to earn a trip to the state tournament in Boise.

The Prairie girls defeated Troy 66-27 while Lapwai was victorious over Genesee 48-35 Friday, Feb. 1 in the Whitepine League Class 1A Division 1 District II tournament. Lapwai beat Prairie 69-52 to become tournament champions, but both teams will play in the state tournament.

Salmon River, the No. 1 seed in the Long Pin Conference Class 1A Division 2 District tournament, defeated Horseshoe Bend 65-38 Saturday, Feb. 2 and then squeaked out a 45-43 victory over No. 2 seed Tri-Valley (Cambridge and Middleton) on Tuesday, Feb. 5. The wins means Salmon River is headed to the state tournament in southern Idaho Feb. 14-16.

In the Whitepine Class 1A Division 2 District II tournament, Kendrick defeated Nezperce 46-45 on Wednesday, Feb. 6, earning the Tigers a trip to the state tournament. Nezperce went on to knock Logos out of the district tournament and then beat Tri-Valley 46-45 in a state play-in game in Grangeville on Saturday, Feb. 9.
