For a half, the Prairie boys put Lapwai to a test Tuesday night, Jan. 22, in Cottonwood. Spencer Schumacher scored 23 for PHS, but the Wildcats pulled away with a 16-6 run during the third quarter to stay unbeaten in the Whitepine League. For the Pirates, the 62-46 loss to Lapwai adds significance to their home game against Potlatch this Friday night, Jan. 25.

With three league games left, with a win over the Loggers, Prairie would all but ensure a first-round bye for the district tournament. The Loggers’ prior results point to third place, but with five league games left, their mathematical prospects range from second to sixth in the standings.
