Tight Turn

It's tough to see how Cindy Woods could have taken the first turn of her run any tighter Friday morning, July 5, during Border Days Rodeo slack time, but her time -- unofficially, 18.443 seconds -- penciled about 13 hundredths of a second behind early leader Taylor Eller, who stopped the clock in 18.430 on the first night of the rodeo, July 4.

The rodeo continues at 6 p.m. tonight, July 5, and concludes at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 6.

Unofficially, other leaders after the first night were as follows: tiedown roping, Chase Joyce with a 9.5; saddle bronc, Hayden Hall with a 73; ranch bronc, Cody Roberts with a 73; steer wrestling, Hayden Hall with a 14.7; breakaway roping, Amanda Hodges with a 2.3; pro team roping, Jordan Weaver and Taylor Duby with a 5.5; local team roping, Cassie Woods and Gabe Richardson with a 10.1; and local barrels, Dani Aiken with a 19.358.
